Abstract

In this paper, we characterize symmetric distributions based on Renyi entropy of order statistics in subsamples. A test of symmetry is proposed based on the estimated Renyi entropy. Critical values of the test are computed by Monte Carlo simulation. Also we compute the power of the test under different alternatives and show that it behaves better that the test of Habibi and Arghami (1386).

Abstract

In this paper, first a brief introduction of ranked set sampling is presented. Then, construction of confidence intervals for a quantile of the parent distribution based on ordered ranked set sample is given. Because the corresponding confidence coefficient is an step function, one may not be able to find the exact prescribed value. With this in mind, we introduce a new method and show that one can obtained an optimal confidence interval by appealing the proposed approach. We also compare the proposed scheme with the other existence methods.

Abstract

In this article the characterization of distributions is considered by using Kullback-Leibler information and records values. Then some characterizations are obtained based on Kullback-Leibler information and Shannon entropy of order statistics and record values.

Abstract

The (n-k+1)-out-of-n systems are important types of coherent systems and have many applications in various areas of engineering. In this paper, the general inactivity time of failed components of (n-k+1)-out-of-n system is studied when the system fails at time t>0. First we consider a parallel system including two exchangeable components and then using Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern copula, investigate the behavior of mean inactivity time of failed components of the system. In the next part, (n-k+1)-out-of-n systems with exchangeable components are considered and then, some stochastic ordering properties of the general inactivity time of the systems are presented based on one sample or two samples.

Abstract

In this paper, based on generalized order statistics the Bayesian and maximum liklihood estimations of the parameters, the reliability and the hazard functions of Gompertz distribution are investigated. Specializations to Bayesian and maximum liklihood estimators, some lifetime parameters of progressive II censoring and record values are obtained. Also by using two real data sets and simulated data accurations of different estimates of the parameters are compared. Next the Bayesian and maximum liklihood estimates of the Gompertz distribution are compared with Weibull and Lomax distrtibutions.

Abstract

The complex systems containing of n elements are considered, each having two dependent components. The main goal of this paper is to investigate the mean residual life of such systems with some intact components at time t. Toward this end, the bivariate binomial model and also two different generalizations are described. Finally, some graphical and numerical analyses are provided for mean residual life of such systems under Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern model.

Abstract

‎This paper examines the problem of stochastic‎ ‎comparisons of series and parallel systems with independent and heterogeneous components generalized linear failure rate‎. ‎First‎, ‎we consider two series system with possibly different parameters and obtain the usual stochastic order between the series systems‎. ‎Next‎, ‎we drive the usual stochastic order between parallel systems‎. ‎We also discuss the usual stochastic order between parallel systems by using the unordered majorization and the weighted majorization order between the parameters on the Ɗп.

Abstract

This paper examines the problem of stochastic comparisons of k-out-of-n systems with independent multiple-outlier scale components. In this regard, we first consider a k-out-of-n system comprising multiple-outlier scale components and then, by using a permanent function, investigate the likelihood ratio order between these systems.

Abstract

In this paper, fuzzy order statistics are expressed based on the concept of α-value, and some of its applications in reliability have been examined. For this purpose, if the lifetime distribution of the system components is known, some of the reliability criteria of the $i$th order statistic using the definition of a fuzzy random variable based on the α-value have been investigated. Also, if the lifetime distribution of the components is unknown or only the fuzzy observations of the lifetime of the components are available, the empirical distribution function of the fuzzy data is used to estimate the reliability based on ordinal statistics, and examples are provided to illustrate the results.
